Well, she was mad at me last night when I struck down a house she loves, because it's within blocks of her parent's house...

Maybe this isn't even the right date and she's trying to con an apology gift out of me!

Matt_B - We got married after 8 years of dating. We have now been married for 10 years, and that is the day we celebrate. We recognize our datingversary, but it's more of an acknowledgement. I mean come this year, it would be 18 years together and that is saying something smile

I'd suggest beer, popcorn and Thursday Night Football. You can apologize on Friday.

If it was me, no apologies would be needed after a night like that! Sounds perfect. smile

You're in extra deep now because this is the time of year for all of those jewelry commercials. eek

Amen...and Amen! laugh

No kidding, right? So what you do now that you're married is the occassional bouquet of flowers. It's the "keep the woman happy maintenance plan." Pick up something "just because they were pretty and I thought of you." See what I did there? Flowers AND a compliment. To work it from another angle, you could buy an orchid and say "it's looked really exotic...and I thought of you." That'd probably get you some kinky daterversary sex.

And yes, Matt, the picnic was on the beach and I found her a lovely dead little crab to turn into a brooch.

Actually, I didn't...but I do remember sand fleas hopping all over the place and getting into my red Solo cup of wine.

Tell her you respect her too much to try to buy your way out of this with a gift. Take her out to surprise dinner at a sports bar of your choice and spell out "I'm sorry" with oyster crackers in her bowl of Chili. Bowling afterwards is completely optional.

Funny you should mention flowers. When my husband and I were first married he told me he was so excited that he could just pick me up flowers for no occasion. How many times has that happened? 0 I have sent him flowers several times during our 10 year marriage for no reason and he LOVES it - and I don't mind one bit.

Coincidentally, I got two coupons in the mail yesterday, which she saw before I tossed them in the shredder. Suspicious!

I try to reason with her, would you rather have new earrings, or me save the money for the house and to get you your dog? She generally sighs and votes for the house. Generally.

I send flowers for her birthday, and Valentine's, which are within a couple weeks of each other, and our actual anniversary. If I sent those tomorrow, that just seems too much like a cop-out.

I think I'll thaw a hidden sleeve of Thin Mints, and give her seven of them!

In keeping with the holiday time of year you could give her seven swans a swimming. Imagine the look on her face when she comes home and finds a bathtub full of waterfowl!

i used to get flowers, love notes and little gifts when we were dating... now that we are married, it's all about 'when will supper be ready?' or 'what are we eating for supper?'

When we were dating, she used to be nice to me. Now she just demands gifts, and to have her credit card paid off!

(Full disclosure, she isn't that crazy, and I'm very much exaggerating. She's a very nice person, I just don't always understand her thought process)

My husband still sends me flowers on the anniversary of the day he moved here from Colorado (for me). He thinks it's March 1, but it's really March 2, because that's the day he actually arrived. I accept the flowers even though it's on the wrong day. laugh
