Some friends of ours from church were told yesterday that their 4 year old son has leukemia. I am asking for prayers for them as they navigate through this very difficult time in their lives.

Thank you!

Thank you, everyone!

We got an update yesterday. The type of leukemia he has is the most common form and has the highest success rate for remission. They will also be able to spend quite a bit of time at home during his treatments. So in the midst of a life altering diagnosis, there are some definite positives.

Prayers coming from Chicagoland. Glad to hear there is some decent news in the midst of the bad.

Busy Bee, maybe it would cheer the little guy up to receive some postcards from all over the country with get well soon wishes? I'd certainly be willing to send a postcard (to you if you were willing to be the point of contact and then deliver them to him) and I'm sure a lot of other generous BOLers would, too. Let me know if I can do this or anything else to help. I know hearing something sad like this makes all of us feel powerless. Maybe a small gesture would bring a smile to his face.

Thank you, all, for the prayers! I am working on the postcard thing that was suggested! I love the idea! smile

Watching our friend's faith and positive attitude has been amazing. Mom posted a really exciting story on Facebook last night...their 12 year old son wanted a new Kendama the week before last and they told him he needed to raise the money for it. So, he spent an entire weekend shoveling snow for the neighbors. He earned $97 so he bought himself a Kendama. When he went to visit little brother in the hospital, he said he realized how unimportant "things" were so he gave his new toy to another sick patient. Upon hearing this story, another friend and teenage son offered to collect old Kendamas, repaint them with a custom paint job and send them to the family so they can distribute to sick kids at the hospital. This same friend contacted a company that makes Kendamas and told them of their plans. The owner of the company called the brother (that originally gave his new toy away) and is sending an entire shipment to him to distribute to the Children's Hospital! The company owner also said he intended to contact the hospital and make a donation to their research for childhood cancers! How great is that!!! smile
