In using the FRB Loan Data Collection Grid, can someone please explain to me what the "development" in "construction or development loan" means? Perhaps a few examples?

Neither of these two loan types are CRA Reportable per CALL Report classification.

An example would be: recently, we had a land development loan where funds were to be used to purchase the land and then the subsequent loan (construction) to build a pharmacy. It was located in a moderate income census tract and once built it would provide numerous jobs, some at minimum wage.

Therefore, we were able to classify these as Community Development Loans.
