I have received contradictory information concerning whether a customer/employee can roll over money into their SIMPLE IRA that was previously withdrawn.

I believe that if a withdrawal is made then the customer/employee has 60 days to roll the funds back into the SIMPLE IRA

I have been told that once the money has been withdrawn, funds cannot be rolled back into the SIMPLE IRA.

Can anyone confirm which is correct?

If I am reading this right, it sounds like a distribution from a SIMPLE IRA can be made, then it references that the same distribution (withdrawal) rules that apply to traditional IRAs apply to SIMPLE IRAs.

In the Traditional IRA section for Rollover from One IRA into Another, (pg. 25) all or part of the assets from one Traditional IRA can be reinvested within 60 days into the same or another Traditional IRA.

Do you believe this holds true to a SIMPLE IRA withdrawal then?

This is what I am trying to clarify.

Distributions from a SIMPLE IRA are subject to the same 60 day rollover, 1 rollover per 12 months and no rollover of a mandatory distribution rules that Traditional IRAs are subject to. A distribution from a SIMPLE IRA can be rolled over to another SIMPLE IRA as long as it is within those rules. A distribution from a SIMPLE IRA can be rolled over to a non-SIMPLE plan, within the above rules, only after 2 years of participation in the SIMPLE has passed.
