Got this from Dallas Tide last night. Better join in!! Not sure that all the images will come through, but I thought it was cuite (especially the part about him eating crow since my Sooners beat his Tide in last years Sugar Bowl.)

Well, since last year didn’t quite work out as expected, I’ve discovered I don’t like the taste of (crow) .

Now, having experienced my share of (humble pie) , I’ve decided I much prefer .

So, this year I’m wanting, hoping, praying for !!!

And, with this being the inaugural year of the , I am convinced my ’Bama Boys will once again be in position to vie for the national championship. Will your sorry, team be there?

We get four teams into the playoffs this year.

My prediction is: , , &

(And, no, who you predict!)

This season, it all begins at 6:00 CST on Wednesday, August 27th, (one week from today) with Abilene Christian at Georgia State.

The semifinals will be held on January 1st, 2015, at the & , respectively.

And, the Championship Final will be right here in Dallas at on Monday, January 12th.

So, all that having been said, are you up to the new Yahoo! College Football Pick’em Challenge? (Probably not, but “Hey” go for it anyway.)

By now, you should know the drill.
Two groups: the first one is for beginners and novices .

It’s called NDB I (Group ID# is 6222 without the spread).

The second one is for experts and fanatics .

It’s designated as NDB II (Group ID#6223 with the spread).

The website to join (one, or better yet, both groups) is: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/college/register/joingroup

And, the password (for both groups) is: dallas (all lower case letters).

You veterans know what to do, so just “Git ’er done!”

For all y’all rookies & noobs, here’s the scoop:

Each week Yahoo! will give you the chance to predict the winners of the AP Top 25 games. That’s all there is to it. Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG! Not only do you have to select the winners, but you have to decide how strongly you feel about their chances. You will use Confidence Points to accomplish this objective.

For example, if the #1 team, All That University (“ATU”), is playing an unranked, Not A Chance College (“NACC”), you might place the maximum points* on ATU. On the other hand, you just may believe that NACC will pull off the upset, but you’re not totally sure. In that case, maybe you only put 1 or 2 points on the game.

That’s for the NDB I group.

Then, for NDB II, we utilize an additional factor…the spread (AKA “the line”). So, in this 2nd group, you’ll not only have to place confidence points, but you’ll also have to select the winner based on what the odds-makers predict. (Don’t panic. There’s no money involved. This is all just for fun & pride).

For example, if #1, ATU is favored to beat NACC by 21.5, you determine your confidence points by deciding how strongly you feel about the likely end-result of the game. If you think ATU will beat NACC by MORE THAN 21.5 points (i.e. 22 points or more), you’d “bet” on ATU. If, however, you think NACC will be within 21 points of ATU (i.e. ATU wins, but by LESS THAN 21.5 points)…or if you believe NACC will win outright, you’d put your points on NACC. (One other note: if the line is, let's say, 21, and ATU wins by exactly 21, this is called a "push" and NO POINTS ARE GAINED & Vegas keeps the cash.)

Bottom line: The stronger – the more confident – you feel about a particular outcome, the greater number of – confidence – points you should use.

As the last week usually has a very low possible point total, we’ll drop the two lowest scores during the season (this gives you an additional “off” week: vacation, forget to make your selections or you just totally blow it).

Anyway, sign up (and invite others, too) and let’s get this football season going.

* varies from week to week depending on the number of Top 25 games

I leave you with two final words:
