With the Fed being unable to come up with a solution for Fedline access banks are in a fix. Our PC and I am sure like a a lot of your old FedLine PC's are old and starting to fail more and more offen. We are have great difficulty transmitting our ACH origination files. We have ordered a new DOS (yes DOS type Dell PC) that will arrive this week and also a new encryption board from Jones Futurex that will arrive today. The fed was going to NT, and then scrapped that idea whereas it was already very much obsolete before the Fed was even ready to begin, now they say they are going internet based, but who knows when? The St. Louis Fed is our endpoint and has a Dell configured PC that we must order. The Dell with Avaya modem cost $1722.78, the encryption card cost $960. We have no idea how long we will be using it until the Fed is ready with the internet access. I have a question, If we can keep our old FedLine PC running, can we locate it in a location in our building to send wires, and then can we use the new Dell FedLine PC in another location in our building to second wires? If we can that way we can keep both PC's in communication with the Fed on a daily basis and keep the passwords current and know the hardware is working each day. If we just put the old PC on a shelf who knows if it will still work if we should ever need it as a back-up.

I totally understand your frustration with the Fed Windows Upgrades that never happened. We budgeted in for new PC's for the last three years, not to mention putting off upgrading our "old" Fedline PC's.
It sounds like you are asking a question about having multiple node's at your location (I'm not sure what you meant in your message by "second wires"). We have 2 terminals running at our location, and a third that is offline. We have worked with the Fed to have different types of messages routed to different nodes. It is possible, if that's what you were wondering.

We discovered that to have two FedLine PC's communicating with the Fed that we are required to have separate accounts at the Fed for each communicating FedLine PC and two monthly account fees to pay. When I made reference to seconding a wire is that one person must send a wire and another person with there own signon and password must 2nd the wire. We are ordering a 2nd complete FedLine PC as a spare. We will power up the spare weekly and copy the static files from the operational FedLine PC. This will keep the spare ready to use in emergency. We are also signing a contingency agreement with a neighbor bank where we will be a FedLine backup for them and them for us.
