Would you rather price yourself out sooner or later?

I would rather price myself out sooner and then retire early (never going to happen) but that is just me.

Hey, I've only been here for 1 year 4 months! not going anywhere else that I know of....

Been here 30 years this coming February. Hoping for another 12 or so and if I'm lucky I'll be able to retire at 60. I call it loyalty, some others call it stubbornness.

Been here almost eight years, watched a lot of good people come and go. There's a growing gap between the people that have been here 10+ and those have been under 5.

A growing information gap too. What happens in another 10 years when the bulk of our experience retires will be certainly interesting. Being 30, I have no idea if I'll be around at that point to witness it or not though.

I just changed jobs a month ago...was the hardest decision to break from my job after 18 years. Small town community bank with so many that felt like family and had alot of battle scars together. But like others have said, most companies do not consider loyalty and work ethic any longer...just give you more and more in job responsibilities but do not give you a dime in compensation. We had only had one 3% raise in 8 years and that was 5 years ago. I left that job and had to drive an hour away, but now I have MUCH less in responsibility...let me rephrase that...I have ZERO responsibility here...work 7-4...do one job instead of 3 1/2 full time jobs and get paid 12 thousand more a year. I get home earlier now working an hour away than I ever even thought about working 10 minutes away. I will no longer feel a loyalty to a company or person like that ever again...that entire process changed me completely.

I've seen bankers work like dogs out of loyalty, only to be eliminated without a thank you when the bank gets sold.

For me, I try to find a balance. I'll remain loyal to my bank but I'm not blind to things going on around me. I know that moving up might take some time here as the folks ahead of me aren't nearing retirement age but have worked at the bank long enough, they're not likely to find another job. So while I'm loyal, I'm realistic to the fact I may have to change banks to move up.

This exact thing happened to my dad. Really puts the business aspect into perspective. I will work to the best of my abilities while I am here, but if an opportunity comes along that my current employer cannot match, I will most likely move on to something new.

Yes certainly wishing you all the best 3-2-Go. its a brutal thing IMO changing jobs. I'm not a fan of change at all, but sometimes it is certainly for the best! Hope you find something you love and soon!
