Thank goodness we're not HMDA. Directors are under strict orders to stick north of the county line so I don't have to worry about classifying improvements to horse farms, mom and pop vineyards, or ...um...other recreational agricultural products.

We are a military bank and have branches on several military installations so we'll deal with a lot of covered borrowers BUT the protections are meaningless in my opinion.
I hate disclosures for disclosure's sake. Wasting time and energy and a fair amount of money to tell a customer about protections that don't amount to a hill of beans!

That's not redlining. Redlining would have to be staying away from a Fair Lending (Low/mod income) area on purpose.

huh. I thought redlining was just refusing to lend to an area for whatever reason. I agree that most often it ended up being low income tho. Learn something new ever day...even if on a Friday.

Yes she is referring to acquiring a branch. We had a bank in the area that did not consult the compliance officer when they were picking the new location to build a branch. The branch is in a town that rest in between two counties. One county is an MSA the other is not. They built the branch in the MSA area of town. Two blocks from the non-MSA area.

I was explaining our new MLA procedures to our board. When I told them the disclosures had to be given in writing and read out loud, they thought I was joking. When they realized I wasn't joking, they couldn't stop laughing.

MLA is not by baliwick so I am not too familiar. Please please please tell me that you are not serious that it must be read out loud.
