They've just upped the projections for Harvey - looks like it might come ashore as a Category 2. And still heading straight for Corpus.

Downgraded again - now looking like a Category 3 when it hits Corpus.

They are now saying landfall will be between Corpus and Victoria. Preparing for major rain and flooding here in Katy.

Projecting Category 4 now. Sigh. Cyndi12, stay safe! Let's hope it dies off some between now and tomorrow night.

EEGB - if it went from 2 to 3 to 4, that is not a downgrade, that means it is upgraded and getting worse. 5 is the highest (worst) category, 1 is the gentlest of breezes.
then it is projected to bounce down the coast, head back offshore, than come back on as a Cat 1 around Lake Charles on Wednesday. Stay high and dry, all...

Hope it dies down between today and landfall. Don't need any repeats of what happened in 2005. Stay safe and dry everyone.

Thank you E.E.G.B. We are just hanging out waiting for it to make landfall. It's going to be bad. Here in Katy, we can get up to or more than 19" of rain. I'm praying hard that we don't lose electricity since that will make things a whole lot worse.
Has anyone heard from Randy? I know he's in the Galveston area. If there are any others from the Texas Gulf area on here, please stay safe.

Landfall in Rockport around 10.15 last night. Major damage there and surrounding cities. Looks like Katy (where Cyndi lives) is getting tons of rain bands - flooding danger. Flooding risks continue over the next 4 - 5 days.

Houston is getting slammed hard. Major flooding and more rain falling. Hoping any BOL friends there / nearby are safe.

Have a number of family and friends in Galveston and Houston areas, so far none of had water in their homes, but seeing pictures of the accumulated water is frightening. Saw that one city had over 35 inches of rain on sunday, with another 6-7 getting over 20 inches. just nowhere for that much water to go in a short time.

Has anyone heard from Randy? I know he's in the Galveston area. If there are any others from the Texas Gulf area on here, please stay safe. I heard from Randy Saturday evening and they were doing OK to that point. Galveston Island can better handle the rain... it essentially just runs off. All the same, they had lots of rain and wind. Cyndi, check in when you can. We are thinking of you!!

Hats off to Randy. He's answering BOL questions all day long from the middle of a hurricane. He's dedicated.

Hi Everyone, I'm doing well but this has been unreal. Thankfully, my house didn't flood but it's only because the drainage system on our block kept the water down. A couple time, I did get worried because of the amount of rain coming down for along periods of time without any breaks. We did lose electricity a couple times but it was only for a short period of time. So far we received well over 30" just here in Katy. It has been great seeing how everyone has come together to help out however they can. People are actually coming from all over (near and far) with boats just so they can help evacuated people stuck in their home.
