Bank wants to issue a $100 vacation voucher for deposit opening for a club account for 55 yrs. & up customers. One of the benefits of the "club" is to take these vacations, which are organized through the bank by an employee of the bank. Bank pays end service providers for hotel, transportation, etc. Bank makes up the difference when voucher is used.
Is this a bonus for TISA, or does it fall under the provisions of being excluded as an absorption of expenses or discount on restaurants/stores? The iffy part for me I guess comes from the bank employee organizing the trips and the direct payment to the end provider to make up the difference. But, if it is a TISA bonus, I don;t see how to report it since it is dependent on taking the trip, similar to a restaurant coupon being dependent on getting the dinner or whatever.
If not a TISA bonus, would any 1099 reporting come into play?
