Hiya all,

I was gonna post this question anonymously (feeling brave lol) as it sounds like a dumb or easy question for all of you but it made me think myself into an even pro/con list so to speak.

Account is held by Mr. A. His Wife Mrs. A is joint on the account. They are fighting and mad about who is spending what. Mr. A asked for his wife's phone number that is listed on the account as he does not remember it and deleted it from his cell during a fight.

My question is do we give it to him? It is his account so on one hand I say sure. On the other my gut screams do not. I don't think there is a reg that says one way or the other.

Any thoughts would as usual be very much appreciated. Happy Friday folks

I would not want to stay farther away from that marital dispute.

Any where but work
Depending on customers cell provider, he should be able to access that information himself on line and get her number back; period.

No way. Don't get involved.

I would never advise getting involved with anything like this. Let me present a scenario that I experienced many years ago. A female customer was in a very abusive marriage. She had a joint account with her abusive spouse. One day she escaped and relocated to a different part of the country. She called in and changed her address and phone number because she had sole owner accounts with our bank as well and asked for our assurance that we would not disclose her location or contact information to her estranged husband. Don't make the assumption that just being a joint account holder means that you waive your rights to privacy of your non-public information when it comes to your fellow account holders.

I appreciate all the input everyone. Thomasj you bring up a great point. It would break some spirits around here if they found out they could potentially hurt someone by simply sharing a phone number or address. I advised against it last week and hopefully my advise will be adhered to. I will bring up the fact it could potentially lead to a bad situation that we would be dead center in the middle.

Thanks all. Hope you had a great extended weekend
