According to State Code 59.1-69 effective 1-1-2020 any individual who wishes to conduct business in the Commonwealth of Virginia must register their Fictitious Name with the State Corporation Commission. The local County Clerks Offices will no longer process the Assumed Name registrations. How are other bank’s updating their CIP/ internal procedures as it applies to existing Sole Props (DBA) who wish to establish a new banking relationship with their institution? Does this include individual accounts DBA - John Smith DBA Smiths Garage for example?

Seems like a question that can be answered, but my next question would be, what is happening to all existing DBA registrations? I can't imagine your state is telling every DBA they must now re-register would they?

Virginia isn't in our footprint, so take my answer with a grain of salt, but my opinion is that you shouldn't have to do anything with your existing customers. You've already verified their identity to a reasonable degree as was required by your CIP. If this was me, any changes I made would be only going forward.
