I am new to being a Compliance Officer and I am going to the Regulatory Compliance School in Arlington next month. I will be taking the exams while at school and was wondering if anyone has taken the exam recently and can give any study tips?
I took the NCCO just a few years ago and have recently recertified though I am now not at a CU. The NCCO is not an easy test for most people. I suggest just a few things that are basic I will admit but they worked for me.
Study until you feel you are ready and then study MORE. Make flashcards. Not just get some online or something easy. Actually make them. When you write them it really does help the information set in. I read the material numerous times and then basically quizzed myself.
All of that said and a lot of boring work later I passed each test on the first try.
Nothing special just a lot of reading. Then reading more when you think you are good.
Sorry there is not something better I can give you. Good luck and keep me posted!
Putting the education to use is... Challenging. I love my job and what I do but to say it got easier after understanding and learning more is not how it happens. It is fulfilling to be able to solve problems though.
Without this forum I think I would not have made it very far or at least it would have taken so much more time.
