I may be overthinking this. Where do you find an area's (MSA), median income?

My software provider seems to only provide Median Family Income and Median Household Income. Trying to translate for individual income.

Typically income is reported as median family income, median household income, and per capita income. Your use will determine which is the relevant income.

Appreciate it.

Guess my struggle is that, for example we want to know the income level of individuals that an organization serves. Not the income-level of families served, as they only have individuals as clients.

Or the instance you want to validate the income level of a borrower's emloyees to make a determination whether they employ or are creating jobs for those of low - or moderate-income.

In these instances, using the 0 to 79.99% of median family or median household income to determine if an individual is low or moderate does not translate.

Per the definition: Low-income: Individual income that is less than 50 percent of the area median income while Moderate-income: Individual income that is at least 50 percent and less than 80 percent of the area median income.

I'd be interested to hear this conversation. I've always used the standard of less than 80% of the Estimated Median Family Income for the county to justify a job created or retained for moderate income individuals. I've never had an examiner challenge it.

I've always used either Median Family Income or Median Household Income, depending on the regulator.
