I sent out a reminder in today's BOL Daily Compliance Briefing that the impending Juneteenth and July 4 public holidays are not counted as business days for the right of rescission, delivery or mailing of a loan estimate, and certain other Regulation Z provisions.

That prompts me to wonder -- are banks closing in observance of the Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19?

How about your bank?

<$1B in northern Missouri. We are closed except for our regular in-store branches that are always open on holidays - with reduced hours.

Are there days on which those in-store branches are closed? Only when the host store is closed?

closed as well. not sure many banks will opt to be open on:

1) a federal holiday (although we still open for presidents day, and did for columbus until it started being referred to as indigenous people day)
2) one that has diversity and inclusion context around the day, that would get the ire of many groups and potentially make hte bank a target of social media scorn

We'll be closed. HR has been sending reminders to employees and the signs are up in the branches.

We are open. What is really ironic is that we are located in the suburbs of the twin cities!

Okay folks, it's 2024 now and this year both Juneteenth and Independence Day fall on weekdays. June 19 will be a Wednesday and July 4 will fall on Thursday. So there won't be any messing around wondering whether there is a different federal observance day. June 19 and July 4 are not business days for the purpose of counting days when the right to rescind is involved (and for certain other purposes under Reg Z) , even if your bank is fully open for all types of business. Yes, you can close a loan on either of those dates, and you can disburse funds. You just cannot count them when determining when the rescission period ends.
