Are employees required to complete fingerprints to meet FDIC requirements, or is this a thing of the past?

I am not aware that the FDIC ever required employees of banks to be fingerprinted as a standard practice. You need them for senior managers and directors if you are under an enforcement order or you have a Section 19 employment applicant. NMLS requires fingerprint background checks.

I've been in the business a lot of years and I've not had to be fingerprinted.

This may shed some light on what Randy mentioned. https://www.fdic.gov/news/financial-institution-letters/2018/fil18021.html

Otherwise the closest I came was when a thumbprint was commonly asked for on larger checks at the teller windows. Those weren't targeted at employees as much as reducing check fraud.

The only time I've been fingerprinted in all my years in banking was when I was hired by a bank regulator.

Any bank I have worked for in the past 20 years has fingerprinted me.

When I was hired 13 years ago, we only performed background checks on front line staff, but now we run background checks for all new employees. It's annoying for lenders who have to then be printed by Fieldprint for their NMLS number.
