Hi All! I am on a mission to find the right graduate banking school for me. Can anyone share their experiences or recommendations for the best all around school out there? I didn't realize there were so many different ones out there! Stonier looks great, I've briefly heard good things about Barret and have heard of the school out of Wisconsin. I am looking to gain a well rounded education and leadership training to move into an executive position in the future. I currently hold the CCBCO and CRCM designations but I am not married to compliance work wink I also have a financial planning background. I can read the information from their websites but I am looking for more hands on experience here and what people thought of the programs. Input is greatly appreciated!

Pulling people out of the ditc...
I have attended the ABA Banking School of Operations and Technology that was held at Venderbilt University (1 week for 2 years), but I believe this merged into the banking school in Wisconsin. Very operations oriented.

I also attended the Graduate School of Banknig at LSU, which is a much more well rounded school touching every aspect of banking, and allowing the student to also pick 2 elective courses annually. Many of the instructors here also teach at banking schools at SMU, A&M, Colorado, one of the ones out west (just don't recall), and likely others (kind of a summer job for a lot of them). it is 2 weeks a year for 3 years, with 6 projects each year between years 1 & 2 and 2 & 3.

Stonier bills itself as more towards executive level bank staff.

ABA offers the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, which leads to a Stonier diploma and a Wharton leadership certificate. The Consumer Bankers Association offers the Executive Banking School at Furman University.

Stonier is the oldest of these banking schools. It's been a long time since I was last involved with the program, but during 3 years as a student and 10 years as an instructor, everything about Stonier was excellent. As a student, I learned things that were useful for the rest of my career in banking.

The ABA hosts a commercial lending school in April at SMU that provides a great intermediate program prior to graduate banking school, as well as an opportunity to tour the SW Graduate Banking school that SMU offers.
