I know certain federal subpoenas are confidential, but for others (such as ones issued from an attorneys office), are you all charging a fee to process the subpoena? And if so, I guess that means you're also notifying the customer that you received the subpoena. Are you charging the fee to the attorneys office or to your customer? What do you charge?

Just to a google search for "bank checking service charge schedules" and review for legal processing fees and see what you come up with. Some do and some don't. Walk into your local competitor's office and ask for a copy of their service charges.

What you cannot do is talk to other banks about what they charge, as the risks anti-trust issues and other regulatory provisions. A bank is required to set pricing independently without discussion with competitors.

I should also add to talk to your legal counsel about any State laws.

Pulling people out of the ditc...
without going in to pricing details, whomever serves us with the subpoena is whom we sent the charge to. and we most certainly do not notify our clients if a subpoena has been received for their account. Federal subpoenas i have seen include a cover letter detailing how to get reimbursed for our time and work product.
