Because Substitute Checks are designated as legally equivalent to original checks under Check 21, will they also be required to meet the document security requirements established in UCC code?

Hopefully this helps:

"Watermarks, micro printing, and other security features that cannot survive the imaging process need not be represented on a substitute check as a condition of legal equivalence."
