I got a physical letter last week as did my dad. They must've used the phone book based on the way they were addressed. It is a "send a dollar to these seven people and add your name and send 200 letters and you can make $800,000...".

Initially I blew it off until dad said he got one too.

In addition, I would suggust you also report it to your states Attorney General's Office. My next door neighbor works for the Attorney General in our state and he said that they take matters like this very seriously.

You might contact the local paper or tv station so they can run a story about it since it's possible the elderly might buy into it.

Since this is going through the US Mail, the Postal Inspection Service might like to know about it also.

The guy that called from Canada said when we send him the $800,000 he will send it to Jomo Kenyata in Nigeria in order to get $25,000,000 he has earmarked for us.

Andy, the only way to make this work is to replace all seven names with names of your relatives. Instead of getting 800,000, you will now get 5,600,000. Then, Omo Nukiyakimengo from Nigeria will be able to send you over 20,000,000 (tax free based on your confidentiality!)

FWIW I took the letter to the post office soon after this thread started. I spoke with whom I believe was a higher up in the office. He asked if he could keep the letter and send it on to the inspectors. I agreed. But based on the tone of his voice, his facial expressions and body language I'd swear I had just requested an official opinion from HUD.
