I just recently turned over Webmaster duties to our IT folks. For the first 6 years I designed and maintained our sites (1stnb.com, 1stcb.com and fhnb.com). It is fun to do and interesting. I have used a text editor (terrible doing HTML without typing skills), Word, Frontpage and then Dreamweaver for my home sight. Our current fhnb.com site is a redesign I wasn't involved with.

Dealing with computers I like to say it can be aggravating because you never know when you are one keystroke away from success. Strict HTML is the epitome of that.

So what you're saying is that you're a man of great patience!

At the time I was full of ....frustration. Sometimes I still am.

If I could do it all again, I'd definitely take typing in high school. Who thought about computers back then?

Bonnie, we have only 2 branches with an asset size of a little less than 250 million but I am responsible for a separate bank owned by our holding company as well. I was all this AND head of audit department at the bank I worked for previously.....30 branches and 12 finance companies. As bad as most days lately are, I am just thankful I no longer have to worry about audit.

Anyway, I am the IT person, so there is no one to turn the webmaster function over to. I'm actually fascinated by the things that can be done using a combination of "products." I use, as noted above, CoffeeCup HTML, FTP, Ulead, and Paint Shop Pro. I've got to admit that I'm a little fixated on the quality of images and the above combination of products has worked well so far.

If you ever need to get back into HTML, give CoffeeCup a test, it's free to try, they offer online "live" support - they will actually go in and fix HTML coding when necessary and the Editor has the ability to clean HTML coding.

Reading the things ya'll do (or are responsible for doing...I haven't a clue how you manage to "do" them all!) makes me thankful for my little 70 hour a week job of CRA. We're a $1.8 billion bank with 27 branches scattered ALLLLLL over tim-buck too (Alaska). I have a full time assistant and do ONLY CRA and between Tax Credits, Bonds, Housing Grants, New Program Development, that nifty little visit by the OCC every three years...rural training, branch training...etc, I'm not sure I could manage to anything else. I was even thinking of getting my assistant...an assistant

Thanks for the tips on CoffeeCup, I'm going to send my DH over there to look at it. We are trying to get our own homepage set up. Our issues seem to be mostly with getting Verizon DSL to admit that we DO have the capability to do this on their server. (It's in our DSL contract....)
