The internal auditors would like to consider locking the safes at all of the branches of our institution and then having dual combinations when needed to open them during the day. According to them ,the risk of taking cash from the vault would be lessened. My concern is that if there is nobody to open the first or second half of the safe available in case of a robbery, this could jeopordize our staff as well as customers who happen to be making transactions. Our policy is to give cash whenever a robbery occurs, that keeping the vault locked or opened should not matter. I would like to hear other security officers' opinions. Of course all is confidential in that bank names are not disclosed in postings. Also if a bankersonline security guru would like to respond, that would be even better!
