How about a journal of some sort where he can "track" his progress in the ministry? You could have it personalized etc...
To add to this, a friend of mine did this and years later was reflecting on the memories and was in awe at the places God had taken him and how far he'd come. He said it was a priceless gift.

How about a very large, beautifully done Bible - my grandmother has one (which she keeps our family tree in for some reason) that is really awesome. You know, the ones with their own stands . . .

Offer to have his diploma framed and matted! Makes a neat gift.

A gift certificate to the local Christian bookstore would be a good plan.

Some nice luggage is always a good gift for a college grad.

If he's getting his own place, how about stuff for a kitchen? When I graduated, someone got me some utensils, oven mitts, a cookbook, etc... It was great because you don't realize you need that stuff until you actually have to use it!
PS ~ Books are overrated. I got like 20 of them and read only one of them (The World According to Mr. Rogers - from my 1st grade teacher!)

My sister graduates- OMG- next week! I have no idea what to get her. None of the gifts mentioned here would apply. She's a business/marketing major, lives on her own already, works at the bank (with me), and is a fashion slave! The only thing she's asked for is a Maltese puppy and a Louis Vuitton bag to put it in. Any suggestions for her more practical sister?

If she has a job already, what about something nice for her office? Maybe a little desk clock. I got one given to me for doing sport in college and it's awesome! I love it. Maybe you could get her something that would help her in regards to building a warddrobe. I know that's tough to do at first. Also, be sure to remind her not to show cleavage at work! (Unless she works with me) LOL

The best gift I got when graduating college was a box full of household items to set up house with. There must have been about $100 worth of items I would have never thought to buy. My aunt must have gone around her house and made of list of things she could not live without and went out and bought them for me. Very thoughtful and I think I used everyone.

I gave her the Dr. Seuss book for her high school graduation. It's a good one (and as bluebanker can tell you, appropriate for all reading levels ). She has a wardrobe that would put most department stores to shame, and she doesn't have an office yet- she "floats." Maybe money is the way to go with her, I know she likes that! Thanks for all your ideas- I'll keep thinking!

What about a briefcase or something along those lines?

How organized is she....maybe a palm pilot or something on that order would be nice. (Unless she works for one of those places that gives their employees one, I don't ) Do you have anyone else (at your level of giving) that might want to go together?
