out of the frying pan...
How to code this? Agricultural line of credit for regular operating farm expenses, secured by commercial real estate. If we go by borrower and purpose, it'll be Ag. If we go by collateral, it'll be coded commercial RE (1e). Help, please?!?!

Becca,

When selecting a call code, you first determine whether the loan is secured by real estate. If it is, you select the appropriate real estate call code. If the loan is not secured by real estate, you then look at the purpose of the loan. In your example, you would select the commercial real estate call code.

I'd disagree with anon as the call report does allow for room in that theory if the major criteria leans one way and the collateral another. You just have to document and be consistent. (RC-C-1 para 6). I would lean on farm personally and have always done quite well on data integrity. You could also go with CRE and be fine, if you're consistent.

I am glad you said that Dawn, because that is what I was thinking.

So I should go with the "2 out of 3" rule and call this Ag? 1b?
