Similar to the question of requiring Spanish EHL posters; we are translating some of our deposit brochures into Spanish now. I worry about mis-leading consumers when advertisements are in more than English, but signature cards, Deposit Agreements and the like are not.

Has anyone had to deal with this issue, or is it an issue?

Our community has experienced an increase in the Hispanic population since about 1997. We have had multiple conversations with our state banking department regarding documentation and other Hispanic lending issues (collateral crossing the border, illegal ID, etc), but they have not had the time to address the concerns.

I would like to have assistance on many of these issues.
Thanks

We have a tremendous amount of Mexican deposit accounts. We do not have any spanish language disclosures or forms.

Whenever a new account is openned for a Mexican citizen, the International Department will ask the questions in spanish and complete the form.

The only option we used is coding the account with a language preference, so if we mail letters, advertising, financials, etc. the cover letter will be a spanish language letter.
