If there are five different corporations with separate TINs with the same signers using one DBA, does the DBA need a TIN? For CTR reporting, is the TIN used the TIN of the corporation on whose behalf the trasnaction was conducted?

Thanks

You would not be able to do this. They would each need an assumed name certificate - and an assumed named can only be owned by one entity.

I would recommend you check your state laws on this one. For example, in Florida filing for a fictitious name does not give exclusive rights to the name and the scenario you are describing would be acceptable. I can run five different Corporations and all have them DBA the same fictitious name. The requirement is that I must do a fictious name filing for each Corporation using the fictitious name.

From the previous post it sounds like different states handle these issues differently so checking out the NY law would definately be in order.

You also may want to step back and look at what your entity is doing. Are you opening up an account? You would still want the owning entities on the account, the DBA could not be the owner.
For a loan? You wouldnt want the entities signing as a DBA, you want the entities who can be held accountable signing on the loan.

if they just want another (DBA) name on a deposit account to help them keep straight what the account is for, I see no problem with adding that, but not as an actual owning or authorized entity.

If i was going to open an account and my name was John Doe, but I like to be called John Wayne, you wouldnt let me open the account that way, or sign for a loan that way.
