Does anyone know if Chex Systems is utilized in a background check? I have interviewed with a bank in which I have a closed account with for NSF. Will this information be investigated in the background check?

Don't know, different banks have different procedures. One of my former employers did not do look at Chex Systems during the employment process, but did look when they set up the employee's new account for payroll purposes. I had to let an employee "go" on her first day on the job.

If you reimburse the bank where you had the charge off, your record will note that and then you won't have to worry about it anymore. Just fix it.

Remember that merchants will also report to Chex Systems.

And while an unpaid item will be a problem, so may a history of NSF checks (e.g., how many monthly statement periods had NSF checks, number of NSFs in the past 24 months, etc.) It will vary from bank to bank.

Most credit reporting agencies require a separate contract for credit checks for employment purposes. I don't think the standard ChekSystems contract addresses this issue. Since you are required to furnish a copy of the credit report to the applicant and Cheksystems usually doesn't provide hard copy reports, I would be surprised if they support credit checks for employment purposes.
