A customer mailed in a check from an insurance company for deposit. She had used the check as a "note pad". The back of the check has phone #s, names, addresses etc on it. Is this a problem for the Paying Bank? The top part is endorsed, it is the bottom portion that has the notes (in pen). Any suggestions would be welcome.

I would think that it is not a problem unless any of the notes could be construed as another endorsement, although I'm not a UCC expert.

You are responsible to ensure that your endorsement as Bank of First Deposit is legible so if the paying bank wants to return the check they know where to send it to.
