Our marketing guy wants to put helpful web sites on a VA loan brochure, e.g. VA regional office, VA lenders by state, Certificate of eligibility home page. Should we have a disclaimer on this page of the brochure????

If the web sites are quality, safe sites and relevant to those who read your brochure, I don't see a problem with adding them. I'm assuming these sites do not have any other "loan source" information on them.

That is an interesting question Gregg and I don't know a definitive answer. But our regulators were so insistent that we put a disclaimer when we link our website to someone else's it makes me wonder if that would apply in this situation as well.

This is what they had us put on our site - some of it would apply to your brochure and some would not:

"Local Bank does not control the content of or approve any website that is linked through this browser. Search results are not filtered or screened by the bank or any of its agents, representatives or service providers. Users who search the Internet using this browser do so at their own risk and are responsible for the results. The portal features are being provided by an outside source - Your Bank is not responsible for the content."

I'm in marketing so I usually don't err on the side of being cautious, but if I were you I think I would at least put something like this:

"Local Bank does not control the content of or approve any website that is provided in this brochure."
