I followed someone like that just before Christmas (the slow one).

Ooops! It was my folks!

I told Dad, next time I would lead - that was the first time I had done the speed limit on that road (in that good a condition) in a looong time.

As long as everyone is complaining - I have an inch of ice in my driveway because the last 3 - 6" of snow we were supposed to get turned out to be freezing rain and sleet and the temperature quickly dropped and froze that mess solid. They are predicting another 3 - 6" of the white stuff for tomorrow (there go my weekend plans!), which on top of the ice, I don't will be good or bad. I can deal with snow, but I hate ice!

Steve, please explain your request! Some might think a SAR might be in order.

I can't fathom living in an area where one has to shovel the weather. We expect a warming trend over the weekend with 70° possible on Monday. Now the Hawaii contingent can chime in and make us all jealous.

ok ok All things considered, and in the spirit of full disclosure, the weather page also tells me that we had 23 earthquakes this week and 19 last week. The largest was only a 2.1, so was unfelt.

The relevance of this thread is that you can substitute "compliance", "regulations", "examiners" in almost every sentence in which we talk about the weather, snow, drivers, etc. Snow can bury us - so can regulations. You can shovel against the regulations just like snow. The crazy drivers maybe are the marketing people. Think about it. The possibilities are un-ending.

I spent 8 years in New England and learned to drive properly then. I got so I could fishtail right into my parking space, regardless of how many inches of ice there were. Not much call for that here, esp. this year. We've only had a single 5 minute spell of flurries all winter. Of course, we did have tornadoes last week, that was exciting. Esp. the one that touched down across the road from my office.

Al, while those of you in N CA are still in sweaters (70 degrees) those of us in the great south are going to the beach. It's supposed to hit 80 degrees in the valleys today, and the high 70's at the beach.

It's Friday and I'm sure a lot of people will be calling in sick so that they can either go to the beach or go skiing in the local mountains - in jeans and tee-shirts, of course!

I do occassionlly dream of a real winter - but then I think that I'd have to shovel snow and learn to drive in it and think, I'll just stay here!

Steve is in the Marquette area. They don't have roads there, they have snow tunnels.

And knowing Steve, I can't be certain his request for grass is related to lawns or shrubbery...

I think loan officers are the crazy drivers!

As for North Louisiana it is sunny and very nice. The high today will probably reach 60 or close to it. I did have a white Christmas at my inlaws in Northwest Arkansas. We played in about 6 or 7 inches of snow. That will do me fine for another year.

I think directors are the weather anchors, the loan processors are the ice cycles hanging from the roof, and the new accounts representatives are the snow boots. Who is the snowman?

Sure wish I could go home early like Andy!

Well that's easy. The "abominable" snowmen are the regulators.

San Diego is clear, blue skies and expected to hit 78 today with a warming trend over the weekend that could take temperature's into the 80's over the weekend.

Here in Flushing (NYC), I'm listening to the melodious sounds of freezing rain on the roof, windows and awnings, you know frozen rain -- all of the misery of snow without any of the beauty.

Maybe you can make snow that way that you want it. Make your own snow online at:

I live in Washington and drive 3 miles to work across the Snake river into Northern Idaho. It is supposed to be in the mid 50's today. Leaving for a ski vacation after work. Hoping to find snow...don't think I can make it to the East coast in time to get much skiing in. Maybe I should drive to Hawaii instead

Well, I just got back from lunch, and the weathermen were right for a change. It's beautiful here today - with not a cloud in the sky. Just wish I could go home early, like some of you claim you are going to do . . . .

Sure, sure. Make us eat our hearts out. Just think when we have beautiful summer days, you are hiding in air conditioning to get away from the heat.
