We are opening a new branch this month. We are a thrift and use the SAIF symbol. All of our current branches have a large SAIF symbol on the front door. I cannot find a regulation that states you must place the symbol in this location, only that it must be placed at every location where you accept insured deposts. Our operations department does not want to place the symbol on the door if they do not have to. Does anyone know if this is a requirment? Thanks for your help.

It does not have to be posted on the door. See 12 CFR 328.4. Keep your eyes open for an amendment to this when the FDIC issues regulations regarding the use of new logos as a result of the merger of the BIF and SAIF into the DIF.

There is no timetable as to when the regulations will be changed.

We recently had this same issue with the opening of a thrift. All our "eagle" stickers are in plastic stand-up frames so we can easily dispose of them when the new FDIC displays are issued.
