A dispute was filed on several ATM and debit card transactions. Our customer claimed he had lost his debit card and didn't ever remember receiving his pin number. Visa has returned to us several of the signed receipts that have a signature that looks identical to our customers signature card and the signature he writes on his checks (we believe it is his signature.

Our customer is still disputing the debit card transactions and ATM transactions saying this may not be his signature and he does not remember these transactions.

Also the ATM and debit card transactions were over a three day period and the signed receipts we have are from the first couple of transaction on the first day of the disputed items and last couple of the transactions the last day he is disputing.

What are we allowed to do concerning this? Can we take back the provisional credit we have already given the customer of the charges we have signed receipts from since he is still disputing the charges?

If you believe they are authorized, deny the claim. You can revoke the provisional credit, but you have to comply with the notice requirements.

You have completed a reasonable investigation by examining the sales receipts and therefore, are allowed to repost the amounts to the account.

Since the ATM transactions occurred during the same period, and you have evidence the card was still in the consumer's possession at the end of the so-called fraud period, you are allowed to include those amounts as well.

I'm assuming you are still within the resolution timeframe (45 days). If so, when you repost, I would recommend sending copies of the evidence to the consumer with your notification.
