Forget the jokes and get down to business. From the trainee perspective--we just want the facts.

I agree that too much joking around can be a problem, but I've never met anyone that didn't appreciate a little humor thrown in while training.

Facts for three or more hours turns to low- to no- interest. And ice breaker is warranted as are using various methods to train. This increases retention and interest in the subject matter. I like to introduce audio and video clips into training to emphasize a point, give me a 10 second break and to get blood flowing in the audience.

As we have stated in other threads, too much of a good thing is not a good thing. It can't be allowed to detract, only to attract.

Gee (or Geeze) did I say Icebreaker? I am new to the company
and I don't want to come off as a "stiff". At my previous place
they would just say "Oh No, here comes Harriet the Hornbreaker"!
I thought a nice easy joke would help... Oh, and the session will only
be 2 hours long.
