If a customer presents a counterfeit note in their deposit what documentation/receipt (if any) do you provide to the customer showing that the bill is being retained and forwarded on to the Secret Service? I haven't run across this issue yet, I just want to know what other banks are doing. I know if I were a business and the bank "takes" a $20/$50/$100 out of my deposit I would like some documentation showing it was counterfeit.

If the customer requests this, I usually provide them with a copy of the counterfeit note report that is submitted with the bill. I also will provide them with a copy of the confirmation when I receive it, which could be anywhere from a week to 6 months after it is sent in.
