Is it O.K. to refer to the bank's maps as available on the bank's computer upon request or should all maps be in the file?

Also, is it O.K. to refer to the HMDA Disclosure Statement available on CD ROM which is available at a specific location in the bank and the bank will print out information requested. Thanks.

The information must be in the Public File

out of the frying pan...
FWIW, we have the maps all contained in a separate file. The Public File has only a footprint map with the branch locations in it and refers you to the Map File for further detail (census tracts and demographics). We'd never get it all together in one file. Or if we did I wouldn't be able to lift it.....

I'm in agreement that the maps should be in a file; however since the government sends back the HMDA information on a CD ROM wouldn't this suffice if it were in the file and the consumer requested what MSA or information they wanted and the bank in turn prints out that data. Technically, the information is in the file if the CD ROM is in the file, it's just not printed out. Thanks.

228.43 (a)(6) Or page 38 of " A Guide to CRA Data collection"

A map of each assessment area showing the boundries the area and indentify the geographies contained within the area, either on the map or in a seperate list.

You can create a high level map showing the boundries o the AA and on a seperate sheet of paper explain the geography and show a list of the census tracts in the AA.

It is best to have them in the file, and because I've made hundreds of public file maps I've not run accross a situatiion where they couldn't be there.

However, when a request is made the bank has 24 hours in which to provide the information. Which IMO would be ample time to print out the maps and forward them to the person making the request.

Just FYI we have put maps on Cd's for people but seems like the CD's get misplaced a lot.

Further South than I wanna be.
We keep our HMDA Disclosure on the disc and put that in the file. If we need to print the info we can. We have most if not all of the other info on our intranet.
