Was AVP, but went to work at holding company level with no officer title. 4 weeks vacation and 8% increase to give up title. Deal!

I'm a VP but our vacation time is based on tenure and officer/non-officer status, not the level of officer status.

VP, just got the title and it really means a lot. Not just $ and vacation time, but more respect at the b of d level for which I report.

It would be interesting to know the size of the banks....many of us in the community banks resemble the cat in the hat with regards to respons. but, well, the VP title is elusive, AVP yes, but VP, hmmm... free soda and coffee..3 weeks until you worked for many many years.

Not a VP, 2 years in banking 10 months in compliance so what do you expect? I don't drink Coke but I sure could use a beer about now!

Compliance Officer- and I just made that last week. Not for lack of anything on my part- we are just a bit backwards here (rant warning) and I where the wrong kind of suit, my zips on the side. Even though I have been in banking for some 20 years. I agree the title does not mean as much as the perks because the title only got me new business cards, but it was surely nice to get that 4th week vacation so I can fish more, fret less and enjoy my extra week in Ireland each year. It was all worth that alone. Beer in the vending machine hmmm there's an idea-Guinness anyone? -my home town has 52 pubs in one mile radius- I leave March 14th for two weeks, go back in June for one week and back again in September now that I have the extra time. It took me 20 years to get 4 weeks vacation and in Ireland you begin a position in most cases with 4 weeks "holiday." If it weren't for Jameson's we would rule the world- at least they get it when it comes to holiday time off.

VP, 3 weeks PTO, free drinks (type dependent on the time of day). I was a branch manager for 5 years, less than 1 in audit/compliance. Major perk being able to come and go for the events at the kids school, doctor appointments, etc. without using PTO.

I was just wondering. What specific criteria if any did you VP's have to meet to attain the title?? Ours is a small locally owned bank with approximately 15-18 employees. The only "titled" employees normally are from the loan dept. None of them have ever worked in anything but loans during the extent of their careers. I've just always found it strange that someone could be VP over something of which that they are only knowledgeable in one dept. None of them have ever worked as tellers, operations, bookkeeping, new accts..nothing but loans. An irate customer comes in with a big prob demanding to see an "officer" but our "titled" officer people always have to forward them to us lowly folks who know the day to day procedures..lol
