I wouldn't count on the Republicans winning the Senate race in New Jersey. Yes, the polling numbers do seem to indicate the race is tightening of late, but that's not unusual. Menendez has consistently run ahead of Kean, and at least one poll I saw indicated that 87% of the probable voters had already made up their mind. Kean's numbers are within the margin of error, but it's hard to believe that a bare knuckle fighter from the heart of Hudson County's Democratic machine won't find a way to win.

Too close to call in Wisconsin. Everyone is running neck and neck in all the races.

Yeah, Denny Hastert has definitely been a far right-winger. I mean he's...uh, he's...what has he done, again?

Sing, can you show me a personal attack by -5-?
I know I have (out of sheer disgust) and I am trying to stop that, but not sure I have seen -5- attack anyone without being attacked first.

The Dems taking control of the House is pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point. I predict the Dems will pick up 3-4 seats in the Senate. There's one school of thought that it might be good for the GOP to retain a narrow margin in congress though, because they would have 2 more years to self-destruct and leave the path wide open for a Democratic presidential victory in '08.
I don't like the thought of Pelosi as Speaker. We would just go from partisan far right-wing to partisan far left-wing.
Nancy is not as left-wing as you make out. What she is good at doing is keeping her caucus in line. You notice that she's quashed any talk of impeachment. If you look at her 100 hour promise, there's nothing there that smacks of retribution or revenge -- much to the disappointment of the left-wing of the party. To govern effectively as Speaker, Nancy will have to govern from the center.

So when you have ratings of 87-100 from some groups, and ratings of 34-8 by others, that's the middle of the road?

MB, your pal -5- made the following comment: "I mean, there are a FEW people that I'm sure I'm smarter than...but not everyone."
I replied with: "Nice."
He then replied with: "Which group do you think you're in, Sing?"
You don't think that is a personal attack? He obviously thinks he's superior, and when I noted that his comment was rude he implied that he's superior to me. I'm not exactly feeling all warm and fuzzy over here MB.

Lol, I guess it depends on your perspective, don't you think?
If you believe that you're in the smarter group then I don't see the insult.

I would be proud to have an 87% rating from the ACLU (of which I am a member), 100% by the NEA, 8% from the Christian Coalition, and an F from the NRA.
To answer your question, if you average the good grades with the bad grades, you will get a middle-of-the-road average grade.

Yeah, well, your view is seriously warped. This is the whole problem with the media bias argument. Conservatives at least recognize conservatism. Liberals all think they're moderate! Oh well. It won't take the voters long to recognize it.

I don't know why in the world you assume that I was targeting YOU with anything I said?! I asked which group you thought you were in so that I could correct you if you thought you were in the group that I was smarter than. I don't know you or your posts, so I have no basis to form an opinion.

But when the groups giving you the high scores are all leftward oriented, and the groups giving you the low scores are all rightward oriented, that puts you far to the left on the continuum. That may be mainstream in your political circles, but I doubt it would be considered such in too many others.
Which is, I guess, how Representative Pelosi would be perceived.

If you take away all the (extremely repetitive) rhetoric by the far-right wingers, I think you'll find that Nancy Pelosi is not perceived as extremely leftist by any conservatives on either side of the aisle OR by any liberals.
I predict the Democrats will pick up 4 or 5 seats in the Senate and will easily take control of the House.
I hope everyone's going out to vote, and if you think voting is important, find out how you can get involved in aiding the voting process. Many places are still looking for polling place watchers/observers, election judges, and there are also many organizations that organize carpools/rides for those who can't drive to their polling places. I'd love to see a huge voter turnout this time around. Do your part if you think voting is important!
Edited to fix a word choice error and add 1 clarification. Oops.
