We have an account that is a fast food chain that is on the NY stock exchange. They told us that because they are on the NYSE that they do not have to provide personal info. on the signers on the account (we were asking for address, social security numbers, date of birth) that we usually get on our account signers to put them on our system under a central information file (CIF). Is this correct that we can't have them provide it?

Your CIP Policy can require anything you want. Are they exempt from CIP from a regulatory standpoint? Yes IF they are in fact the fast food corporation and not a franchisee. Franchisees are generally NOT part of the company/corporation that is listed on the NYSE. Moderators/gurus, correct me if I'm wrong.

I feel your pain. We just went through this with a nationwide retailer as well. They were correct when they stated that were exempt from the CIP requirements. However PStalfort raises an excellent point about the possibility of them being a franchisee. You will definately need to get the answer to that before proceeding.
