Has anybody ever heard of the RIA? I believe it stands for Regulatory Intelligence Agency.

P.S. I am doing some Due Diligence re-training and some of my material indicates that we should check fraud and bad check data bases if we have an uneasy feeling about a new customer. I know bad check data bases however where would I find a fraud data base other than FBI lists and OFAC? Thanks in advance for any responses. Gigi

Well THERE'S an Oxymoron if I've ever seen one! Honestly, I don't know of any other databases unless you had a local fraud investigator's group in your area, or if you are a member of BITS. And for the life of me, I don't remember what BITS stands for other than the fact that it's not cheap to join, and most of the members are really, really big banks like Wells, BofA, etc.

In my world RIA stands for Registered Investment Advisor. As for the level of intelligence possessed by our RIA ........... (silence is golden)

There are several RIAs out there. The RIA I am familiar with is the Research Institute of America. I purchased the Bank Internal Auditing Manual from them.

Thanks for the responses all. Believe it or not, I did find the agency through the Internet. Costs about $600 to join. Think I'll just stick to the normal lists and credit reporting agencies. However, I do think I'll look up the Research Institute of America . Need a good safety and soundness audit manual. Thanks again. Gigi
