In our area most banks are looking for CD funds retention and our using "Bump CD Rates" products looking at terms of 32-35 months.

We have the "Bounce Protection" product from Pinnacle Financial on our checking products. This is a good service and an income earner. You must be careful in this product as the OCC has a letter out on this type of product.

Debit Business Cards are also a big item. Internet banking services as we expanded are business offerings plus offering CD-ROM statements to all our cusomers.

We are in the process of going to e-statement delivery as we had image statements for five years.

As you can see we are an advanced bank for a community bank. Call or email if you want to discuss any areas stated.

Happy Holiday!

We are offering callable CDs. They are long term ( 5 years ), but we have a contractual right to call them after one year. They offer a higher rate than we're paying on other CDs now and customers are looking for every point they can get when it comes to rates these days.

Perhaps I should start a new thread for this question, but where can I find the OCC letter Lela refers to? I have heard talk of an overdraft product some in my bank would like to offer, but it sounds kind of predatory to me, encouraging those already having trouble making it from paycheck to paycheck go deeper into debt.

The OCC letter is OCC Interpretive Letter #914 issued in September, 2001 and available at http://www.occ.treas.gov/interp/sep01/int914.pdf

This letter only deals with one vendor's overdraft privilege product. Other vendors may not have the same issues, but it does provide a nice template to lay up against your vendor's program to see if they are OK. In reviewing our vendor in this light, I was able to get an acceptable comfort level about the program we are installing here and gave the compliance sign-off on the program.

John M. Floyd has something called a Loan Optimizer which allows institutions to buy and sell loan participations. It can help diversify your portfolio, geographically and in terms of types of loans, as well as help with an imbalance between loan and deposit volume.

They also have an overdraft privilege product.
