Someone needs to write a book called "BSA for Dummies" and I will be the first one to buy it! I am new and confused about some terms that I cannot find good definitions on so if someone can help or point me in the right direction I would appreciate the help.

In layman terms waht is the difference between a Check Cashing business, Deferred Presentment business, Title Pawn/Loan and Money Service Business (MSB)? Are the banks requirment the same for each?

A check cashing business is one whose primary business is cashing checks.
It could be anything from a mom and pop operation to a large national company.

A Deferred Presentment business, - I have not heard this term, but assume they mean PayDay Lending.

The bank would look at each type differently depending on their size, location, knowledge of AML procedures and more.

For help in understanding the requirements for MSBs,

msb.gov

has a lot of information.

Also the FFIEC Examination manual at

http://www.ffiec.gov/bsa_aml_infobase/pages_manual/manual_online.htm

has all the info you'll need. This should be your bible.

Also your state/county may have additional requirements concerning licensing, etc.

As far as the 'bank's requirements', a lot of that will depend on your policies and your risk assessment.

Ditto on PStalfort.

http://www.msb.gov is an excellent source of information. They have some excellent little booklets you can order for free to give to your MSB customers so they can better understand their requirements.
