What are other financial institutions doing about the recent amendment to FCRA effective July 22, 2007 that restricts employers from obtaining credit reports for employment purposes unless the reason for the credit check is either "required by law" or "substantially job related"? Now that financial institutions no longer fall under an industry exemption, is the only way around this to review or risk rank each job one-by-one and identify the reasons for each job that we feel would validate obtaining a credit report?
