What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music? - High Fidelity

More from O Brother, Where Art Thou (One of my favorite films.)
"Deceitful, two-faced she-woman. Never trust a female Delmar, remember that one simple precept and your time with me will not have been ill spent." - Everett to Delmar
"Believe me Delmar, woman is the most fiendish instrument of torture ever devised to bedevil the days of man." - Everett to Delmar
"D@mn! We're in a tight spot!" - Everett
"Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!" - Everett
"Do not seek the treasure." - Pete
"We thought you was a toad." - Delmar
"Shake a leg Junior! Thank God your mammy died givin' birth. If she'd have seen you, she'd have died o' shame." - Pappy O'Daniel
"I've spoken my piece and counted to three.' - Penny

Oh Brother..... Classic. Just classic. I can't even begin to deconstruct this statement. (Also one of my favorite scenes in the film.)

"So that happened." - State and Main also "It's not a lie; it's a gift for fiction!" - State and Main My wife and I say the "So that happened" line to each other all the time and we were convinced that we were the only people who watched that movie and knew that line. Glad there is another!
