Does this period of time also apply to Commercial Online Access Customers? If so, can the bank still make the information available for less than that time frame (Say 45 days)?

Credit Card Transactions: Authorization & Settlement

I understand that when an authorization is made for a credit card transaction the actual charge will not show up on the customer bills until the settlement has been submitted to match the authorization. What happens with the debit card (VISA or Mastercard) that has not been submitted for settlement until after the authorization? Does the fund/transaction actually hit the customer's bank account as soon as the authorization is done or does it wait until the settlement to match the authorization comes in?

Our bank has a fully operational imaging system. Since this system is in place, are we still required to hold physical copies of items? For example, instead of holding official checks the required 6 years, could we determine our own timeline for retaining physical copies and use the digital images to meet statutory requirement?
