If that's cheating, I need to be bumped forward to mid-February to be on track!
I did attempt to to mine as handstand pushups this morning, after I did my regular set for the day. Let's just say I was happy to get from a headstand up to a handstand, then promptly fall over. I've got a ways to go, but can do a 45 degree angle, with my feet up on the bench-press bar fairly easily.
I'm starting a new set of workouts next week, and may start doing some two-a-days, throwing some of the Insanity DVD's back into the mix. They're intense, but pretty repetitive after a few weeks.

Feel the burn Mani! Just think, in another 6 months, you'll be doing these suckers with one arm and both of the pups sitting on your back!

It hurt to do 3 today, I may have to do two sets of two tomorrow, about 8 hours apart...

We started in our department on New Years Day. Decided we would start the first week with 10 each day then add 2 per week. This would give us a little over 100 by year end. The 365 by year end didn't seem realistic to some. So anything is better than nothing. Any good ideas for core strenghtening aside from planks?

Tons of great stuff out there, of course everyone has their own opinions on this. The general agreement is that exercises that work multiple parts of you are far better than anything that isolates a specific group. Depending on age, gender, level of physical activity, equipment availability, etc. there are different answers to the question. General resources are reputable sites associated with established publications like Men's/Women's Health, Runner's World, several educational sites that specialize in sports medicine, there are all kinds of places to look, and many of their recommendations will overlap. You will want to search for things specific to you, especially if you have any back issues etc. But many core workouts are not dependant on equipment and really only require your body and some floor space. I'm a fan of the P90X Ab Ripper dvd, it's a great overall workout that only takes about 15 minutes to leave you feeling like a horse just trampled your stomach...but that can be a bit intense for some. Just don't go and do 50 sit-ups or crunches, that's a huge waste of time.

I've heard several say that pole dancing classes did amazing things for them... If there's some sort of piano recital type event at the end where you show off what your learned, I'm sure we could pack the house! To be supportive and all, ya know

Nice! It's good to have goals, I'm training based on what I have coming up. Stinks that it'll be rough to prepare for with all the cold weather to deal with though.

I need a new goal. I've decided to NOT do the Tri-for-a-Cure again this year. I think it's a great event, and I had a blast, but I want to try something else now.
