I researched a bit and doesn't look too detrimental. I usually do it on Fridays and run 10 the next morning. May not be optimal, but I'm not trying to set a world record or anything. Ended up going, needle in me now heh. Oh well!

Angered the knee and got a blister on my toe from yesterday's run, but I'm still excited to finally get beyond my 6 mile distance slump.

Angered the knee and got a blister on my toe from yesterday's run, but I'm still excited to finally get beyond my 6 mile distance slump. ^^^Signs of a real runner! Had a great time at the Warrior Dash with a group of mud virgins. They did well and I was proud of them. I was a little mad at me. I hung with them for the first mile and a few of the obstacles and encouraged them through. They got some confidence and said "take off". So I pushed it. Finished 21st in my age group out of 161. If I had hit stride sooner, I know I could have cracked top 10. The next one I do is for time.

Official results posted today, I was a little surprised by the lack of people in my age group, it's usually one of the biggest (20-29). I was 6 of 17. I think this can be explained by the race being at the same time as another bigger one nearby that was a 5k mud run with a heavy focus on drinking afterward lol (Mud Chug). 7:42 pace, I think I'm going to be happy with it, even though it wasn't a time improvement. No more races on the schedule until the big one on the 19th! Started the new workout this morning that I got from the race's site...holy cow. 5 circuits, by the end of the 3rd I felt like I was going to collapse . I got through the 4th, realized I had 10 minutes left and only one thing I'd done so far incorporated push-ups so I still needed to do another 83. Probably the hardest 83 push-ups I've ever done! Sets of 25 and I'm pretty sure my armpits fell off at some point. Yikes! I better hurt like a son of a gun tomorrow.

Yes. I could not do them with an 80 pound woman, I must correct my previous statements about them. They were chock full of bologna!

He'd probably try 80 in each hand, just to make things interesting! Also, I don't think you know what kind of trouble you're getting yourself into with that offer

This weekend's 22 miles were HARD! I am fighting a cold and right now I am losing. My knees also decided to cramp up on me during the last 6 miles when I stepped up on a curb funny. I officially ran 21 miles and then had the walk the last one in. Marathon is in two weeks and after this past weekend I am nervous!!!

Besides the head cold, I think a lot of my problems Saturday were mental. I was mad that my knees were hurting and the race was two weeks away. Self doubt started creeping in and I second guessing myself. Wondering how am I ever going to do 26 when I can barely do 22. My 20 miles a couple weeks ago was great.
On a possitive note, I ran in super cute race day outfit and it worked great!

YAY for the super cute outfit!
You are into your taper now. Have you heard of "taper madness"? It makes PMS look like a walk in the park!
Your knees can rest over the next two weeks. Go ahead and baby them and dont feel guilty cutting a run a little short if necessary. The endurance is there, the only thing you can do now is maintain or do damage. Focus on the positive and enjoy the experience. You will never forget your first marathon!

You are into your taper now. Have you heard of "taper madness"? It makes PMS look like a walk in the park! There is a marginally frightening thought..... :shivers: You will be fine Girl!! You have done your training, your body is ready and your mind has already prepared itself. Now is the time when you relax and just let it happen. You are part of an exclusive club. Enjoy your memebership. You have done the hard part....shopping for the new outfit! Please enjoy!

The right outfit is the key to no blisters or chafing. Moleskin and body glide are crucial as well.
Body glide slathered all over the blister prone toe/foot area usually helps me. I put it on my toes before every run over 5 miles. Also...NO COTTON SOCKS. Spend the money on the moisture wicking kind. I've managed to eliminate the blisters (until I hit 20 ish miles) now, but have NOT figured out why my second toenails always end up black when I start pushing the mileage. They arent longer than my big toe and I keep them trimmed very short.
For areas that have chafed...use moleskin or heavy duty athletic bandages. Last year on a 16 miler I got rained on and the bottom seam/band of my sports bra cut into me. It looked like someone took a knife to me. Moleskin for a week fixed it. Most recently, I think the 15 lbs I've gained caused a little "extra" in the under arm area and I ended up chafed at the top of my bicep during a half marathon. I had to wear the good bandages for two weeks to clear that up.
Certain tops and socks are major offenders for me. They are reserved for yoga and short runs. The "super cute outfits" that are also super comfy are the way to go. I've got a couple that are my go to for every really long run.

She mentioned no cotton for the socks. True for shorts and shirts too. Tech cloth will save you from bleeding. Some also prefer the fitted "spandex" shorts over loose fitting ones.
