Can “Member FDIC” be one-click-away?

Answered by:

Question:
Our marketing department believes “Member FDIC” mucks up our bank’s social media posts, and says we don’t need it anyway, so long as it is “one-click-away” through a link to our website. They want to get rid of it. I’m not so sure. Are they right?
Answer:

First, give kudos to your marketing department for asking first instead of just dropping it. Next, give them additional props for having an idea about “one-click-away” matters. Then, gently inform them they are wrong. There are a few compliance disclosures that CAN be one-click-away, but Member FDIC is not one of them.

After delivering that news, invite them to attend the upcoming webinar “Friends with Marketing: Managing a Winning and Compliant Marketing Program” together. Get all the details about what can be one-click-away, along with some great insight on happy compromises that can be made. Tune in April 6, 2023!
