DQ, this is so hard on you and your mother, I'm so sorry his infection hasn't begun to respond to the medicine. Prayers continue to all of you. He sounds like a fighter, now they just need to find the right combination of meds to help him with that fight. (((Hugs))))

The same, they did a cat scan to see if he had a stroke; it came back negative to which they comments that cat scans are generally inconclusive when it comes to strokes (ok, so then why do it?). He is in a lot of pain with his left leg, numb in both hands, &now his one arm is swelling and he still can't hold down any food. I am waiting to hear from my mother about some other tests they were doing. Thanks for asking.

Still no test results. They are did a dye test for his circulation. Now they want to move him to another hospital. His vascular surgeon and foot doctor both work at another hospital and they want to move him there. Apparently they are not happy with the care my father is getting where he is at present. He won't be home for Christmas...

DQ, you'll have to bring Christmas to him! I can remember several holidays when I was a kid, visiting Mom in the hospital. Her heart seizures couldn't read a calendar.
That's one of the reasons I really push the holiday joy, with decorations, music, cookies. If I stop to think what we went through all those years, I could get really bummed.
What will help you is something I still do to this very season. Find some alone time. Put on any music or movie that makes you cry and have a good cry. Allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself and all you are going through, just for awhile. Scream and yell if you need to, even in a pillow if you are afraid someone else will hear. It helps release your tension, allowing you to be stronger and more positive for those around you.
Then, you can visit Dad with a positive and uplifting attitude, which will, in turn, help his.
God bless you and your family!

DQ that just sucks!! Nanwa's idea of bringing Christmas to him is a good one and would make it easier for your mom. When my mother was in the nursing home during those last few months we brought her a small Christmas tree and garland and she really liked it.
She is also so right about letting yourself give in to the feelings this are surely nearly overwhelming you with right now. "Name it, Claim it, Tame it" works well and a good cry never, never hurt anyone.
Know that so many of us are thinking of you and your family right now and feel the many, many (((hugs))) coming your way.

DQ,
Your daddy is still with you. Rejoice in that. There are so many of us that wish our Daddy was still here. Holidays can be bittersweet -- just don't overlook the sweet.
Your father is so lucky to have you and I know you mother is very proud to have a daughter like you.
